Hatake Kakashi, an elite ninja for the Leaf Village, isn't what you first think might think of him. A first impression of him (at least with his students) is that he's clumsy, laid back, and always late. But later on you see how extremely talented and dedicated he is towards his work.

Kakashi became a chunnin (an average ninja) when he was just six years old. He then became a jounin (elite ninja) at a young age afterwards. Not much is specifically known about his past since he doesn't talk about himself much (not even to his own students 0_o).

One thing about Kakashi is that he is very intent on teaching the importance of friendship. His best friend was killed in a mission (details of it is still unknown) but since then, Kakashi has always put his comrade's welfare before his own. Actually, Naruto and his team are the only students Kakashi ever accepted as his students. He failed every other gennin (apprentice ninja) that was assigned to him but he decided to pass Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura because they proved to him no matter what the rules were, they were going to look out for the well-being of eachother.

Kakashi has a pretty warped sense of humor too ^^. With the exam with Naruto, Kakashi appeared behind his back and gave him a super powerful poke in the ass (launches poor Naruto into the air in pain ^^;;) to show him to never leave an opening. He also taught his students how to control chakra (spiritual energy) by climbing trees by walking up them. Ah, and another quirky thing about Kakashi he loves to read the romance novel series "Come Come Paradise"...that has many adult scenes. Kakashi was actually reading it while Naruto and his team were trying to defeat him...blushing and laughing while reading it at the same time ^^;;

But Kakashi didn't become an elite ninja just for his teaching skills. Kakashi possesses a Sharingan for his left eye (a special eye that is able to copy your opponents techniques). Kakashi didn't originally have the Sharingan but he had to have it surgically implanted when he took it from somebody else (obviously somebody dead). But with his Sharingan, Kakashi earned the reputation in the ninja world as the man who copied over 1,000 jutsu (moves). But since the Sharingan is sought after and takes so much of his energy and stamina, Kakashi always keeps his left eye hidden with his forehead protector slanted over it. But when he shows his left eye, you know that the situation is serious.

Hatake Kakashi is actually the most popular character in Naruto (according to the national poll that Kishimoto Masashi did for the manga) and people adore his character for the fact that he's only human, only he does a really good job at kicking ass while he is XD I hope this site dedicated to Kakashi shows how great a character he is in the series and hopes that more fans get to know how well-developed the Naruto series is. ^^
