In Hideki's apartment, Chii wakes up to the sunlight inside the futon. As Chii gets up, Hideki is already at the sink brushing his teeth. Chii tells Hideki good morning and Hideki congratulates her for learning almost all the right greetings. Chii tells Hideki she learned a lot of things and she points to the rice cooker and says "rice cooker", to the TV and says, "television", points to his breakfast and says "okazu", and points to his hidden porn magazines and also says, "okazu" (okazu is the same word for meal and things to masturbate to). As Hideki is about to cry again at Chii's bluntness, he notices something odd about her behavior and asks if she's okay. Chii says she notices nothing wrong. Outside the door, Shinbo calls out to Hideki and tells him that he'll be leaving early because he has to do something and leaves. Hideki wonders what business Shinbo would have so early but then realizes he should've caught him before he left to ask what was wrong with Chii.

As Hideki finishes eating and prepares to go to Yobikou, he tells Chii that he'll be back right after school and to behave until then. Chii sits slumped against the wall and wishes him a safe trip. Hideki rushes out and picks up his mail from his mailbox, only to find more bills. As he runs out of the apartments, Hibiya is outside sweeping again and wishes him a good morning. Hideki runs past her and wishes her the same, leaving Hibiya concerned at his hurry.

At Yobikou, Shimizu's class has already started and Hideki tries to sneak to his seat next to Shinbo. Shimizu casually calls out to Hideki and tells him it's rude to leave the door open when you're already late for class. As Hideki apologizes, Shimizu makes a joke and tells him to do 10 laps outside (but Hideki doesn't realize and immediately runs out to do it). Shimizu quickly calls him back and tells him she forgives him for being late and gives him a wink. As Hideki sits back down, Shinbo asks why he was so late and Hideki remembers he had to ask Shinbo a question and tells him he needs to talk to him after school.

At the apartment, Chii sits at the same position slumped against the wall.

After class was over, Hideki tells Shinbo that Chii seemed out of energy. Shinbo then asks Hideki if he takes Chii outside often and Hideki realizes he doesn't let her out much and he doesn't allow her to go outside on her own after the underwear incident. Shinbo calls Sumomo up on his shoulder and tells her to explain to Hideki how persocons recharge their energy. Sumomo explains that persocons recharge their energy by staying outside in the sun. If they're not exposed to the daylight for a prolonged period of time, then they run out of energy. To prevent it, you have to plug a persocon into an electrical outlet. Shinbo then hands Hideki his spare AC adapter and warns him charging up a persocon at one go takes up a lot of electricity. Hideki thanks Shinbo for his help and takes the adapter.

Back at the apartment, Chii falls over to the side as she sits.

As Hideki walks towards work, he wonders if he should go to work or not because he was worried about Chii. Suddenly Yumi calls out to Hideki from behind and he turns to see her in her school uniform. Hideki blushes at the sight of her cute uniform and tries to tell her about work. Yumi interrupts him and says a worker called in sick so they would both have to work extra hard and she had to sacrifice a school club meeting to go early. Hideki immediately feels guilty and decides to go to work after all.

In the apartment, the sun begins to go down and Chii is lying motionless on the floor. She then hears footsteps outside and goes to the window to check if it was Hideki, but sees a man in a business suit just walking by the gate.

After work, Yumi bids Hideki goodnight and Hideki immediately starts running home. When he arrives at the apartment, he sees Chii lying on the floor and picks her up to see if she's okay. Chii opens her eyes and welcomes him home and Hideki feels relieved he made it just in time. Hideki then takes a cord out of her ear and puts the adapter into his electrical outlet. As he plugs the cord into the adapter, it immediately begins to friz and the lights flicker off. Confused, Hideki realizes he shorted out the circuit in the apartment.

He goes to the apartment fuse box and tries to turn the electricity back on but finds it was broken. He knocks on Shinbo's door and tries to get some help but finds him gone from the apartment. He knocks on Hibiya's door and finds she's gone too. He then takes the phone and tries to call Minoru or Yumi but the phone was out of service because his phone bill was due that day. Digging into his wallet to find change for a payphone, he found his wallet didn't have enough spare change.

Hideki grabs Chii and carries her piggyback towards Yorokonde, hoping that someone would still be there so he could charge her. As he runs out and tries to go through a shortcut, he finds the street blocked and under construction. He runs around in multiple directions trying to find his way towards Yorokonde. He then finally ends up on the street towards Yorokonde but finds himself on the lower side of a ravine hill that he has to climb in order to reach the main street. With Chii getting heavier on his back, he climbs up the ravine to reach Yorokonde. But when he finally makes it to the top, he stands up on the edge and accidentally slips and falls. Hideki immediately shields her fall and on the ground, asks if she was all right. Chii then suddenly loses all power and switches off. Hideki tries to carry her again but she suddenly became heavy again like she was when he first found her. Then walking up to the scene, Hibiya calls out Hideki's name and he's shocked and grateful that she was there. Hibiya tells Hideki she saw someone falling from her taxi window and got out to check if they were all right.

Back at the dorms inside Hibiya's room, Chii is plugged into the AC adapter and recharging. Hideki thanks Hibiya for saving them and Hibiya apologizes she couldn't get home sooner. Hideki assures her that in the end, she was their savior and he couldn't do anything to help Chii. Hibiya sits and smiles at Hideki's concern and then Chii calls out to Hideki from the floor and holds her hand out to him. Both Hideki and Hibiya seem relieved to see Chii all right.

Outside, Shinbo finally gets back to the apartment but hears voices from Hibiya's apartment. Shinbo opens the door to Hibiya's apartment and asks what was going on and they tell him that Chii was recharging. Shinbo glances outside at the electric meter and panics, telling Hideki that it was going really fast and at this rate, his electric bill will end up two pages long. Hideki faces Hibiya with a panic face and apologizes and promises to pay her electric bill by the end of the month. Hibiya tells him it was all right but she needed the month's rent from him. Hideki panics again and realizes he didn't pay her the month's rent yet. Hideki immediately bows to her and promises to pay the rent and the bill by Friday while Hibiya tries to calm him down. Chii gets up and stares at the scene, wondering what Hideki was panicking about this time.
