At his desk with his bankbook and calculator, Hideki tries to figure out his monthly budget. He realizes he needs a job that would have to pay him at least 800 yen per hour or he won't be able to pay rent for next month. Chii leans over Hideki's shoulder to see what he was trying to figure out and Shinbo walks in on the scene (that causes Hideki to freak out again). Shinbo tells Hideki it was time to go to yobikou and tells him he'll be waiting for him outside. As Hideki grabs his books and backpack, he tells Chii he'll be back later that night and tries to teach her how to say "Itterashai" (Have a safe trip) before he leaves. Chii slowly repeats it and Hideki happily points to himself and tells her his name was Hideki. Chii points to Hideki and repeats, "Hideki" and he gets even more excited...but then she starts pointing at random different things and calling them "Hideki" and he realizes she thinks a pointed finger means Hideki.

Hideki and Shinbo rush towards the bush that heads to yobikou and get on. On their ride, Hideki tells Shinbo about his encounter with Minoru and asks if all junior high students were that intelligent. As they go inside the school and sit down, Shinbo explains that he and Minoru met each other online through a BBS (forum) about custom persocons. Hideki then asks Shinbo if Sumomo was okay from the crash she got while she was connected to Chii. Shinbo tells Hideki he fixed her as he opens his bag and Sumomo immediately pops out. Shinbo puts in that he was lucky he had Sumomo's data backed up and her hardware didn't short out or he would charge him for her repair. Hideki asks Shinbo how much it would cost if he would have to change her hardware and he asks Sumomo to do a check on the internet on how much her current drives would cost. Sumomo grabs a pencil and writes down the number and Hideki is completely shocked at the cost.

Class begins and the teacher walks in and sets her books on her desk. Hideki blushes at his new beautiful teacher as she introduces herself as Shimizu Takako. As she begins to take attendance, the students protest that they weren't little kids and Shimizu laughs it off and tells them she always wanted to become an elementary school teacher and asks them to humor her. Hideki sighs and wishes he had Shimizu for an elementary teacher when he was young. He begins to daydream until Shimizu approaches him and he snaps to his senses. She play scolds him and the class laughs at him.

After school, Hideki goes to the book store and gets an employment book to find a job in the area. He starts out enthusiastic, but as he goes from place to place, each employer tells him that they already hired everyone. Disappointed but not hopeless, he decides to find a job the next day as he walks back towards home. Suddenly he's splashed with water and he looks up to see a cute teenager in front of the tavern "Yorokonde" holding a bucket. She immediately apologizes for what she did and Hideki tries to tell her he was all right. The girl grabs hold of his hand and tells him to come in and she'll dry his clothes for him. Even as he protests, she drags him inside the tavern office and gives him the tavern uniform to wear while she dries his clothes. While waiting in the office, Hideki begins to daydream about how cute the girl was but suddenly comes to as he hears somebody talking downstairs.

Hideki walks downstairs towards the tavern and notices a persocon printing out receipts on the register. Amazed, Hideki watches it for a while until an employee comes up to Hideki (who's still wearing the uniform) and tells him to hurry up and prepare the place before it opens at night. Hideki, a bit clueless, quickly nods and helps putting down the stools and wiping the tables for opening. The tavern owner comes in and one of the employees welcome him, telling him that the new hired employee was a good worker. A bit confused, the owner approaches Hideki and asks him who he is. The girl walks into the tavern looking for Hideki and he finds out she's the daughter of the owner.

Back at the office after hearing Hideki's story, the tavern owner laughs and apologizes for the mistake and his daughter apologizes for splashing him with water. Hideki laughs it off and says it was all right and the owner then notices the job book Hideki had on the desk and asks him if he was looking for a job. Hideki says he hasn't found one yet and the boss asks him if he'd like a job since he was looking for new people. The owner introduces his daughter next to him as Yumi and she was still a high school student but she was helping him out since he was so strapped for help. Hideki readily accepts and the owner happily shakes his hand and hands him an application form to fill out for filing.

When the owner goes downstairs after an employee calls for his help, Hideki goes into his daydream mode again and talks out loud that he and Chii will be problem free. Yumi interrupts his thoughts and asks him who Chii is and Hideki quickly explains that she was his persocon. He then asks Yumi if she has a persocon of her own and she shows him a rabbit keychain and she explains it was a mobile persocon. She then asks Hideki if he was going to start writing his application but he blushes and tells her that this was his first job so he doesn't know how to fill one out. Yumi volunteers to help him and walks him through his family information and education history. After he finishes, Hideki thanks Yumi for her help and she smiles happily and says it was nothing and calls him "Motosuwa-Senpai" (a term for upperclassmen). He blushes as she bends over and he notices how grown she is in her chest region. Yumi notices and tells him she's an E-cup (where Hideki freaks out and blurts out dozens of excuses he wasn't looking with any perverted intentions). Yumi laughs and calls Hideki cute as he burns out from embarassment.

When Hideki gets back home, Chii immediately greets him with a hug and says "Itterashai". Hideki corrects her and tells her when somebody comes home, you're supposed to say "Hokairinasai" (welcome home). Chii repeats it and Hideki congratulates her again. He tells her that he finally found a job and he was going to use it to make her happy. Chii tells Hideki she doesn't understand what "happy" means and Hideki explains it by smiling and telling her it's when you make a happy face. Chii smiles and understands while Hideki opens a plastic bag full of vegetables the tavern owner gave him because he assumed Hideki was having a tough time supporting himself. He points at the pot and asks Chii to bring it over and Chii immediately points at it herself and calls it "Hideki". Hideki sighs and walks over to the kitchen himself.
