In his apartment, Hideki wakes up from the sunlight pouring into his window. He turns around in his blankets and finds himself face to face with the persocon he found the previous night. She says a "Chii" and Hideki panics and backs up to the wall. He then realizes he found a persocon the night before and breathes in relief he wasn't hallucinating.

Hideki begins to prepare his breakfast and stirs up his natto (fermented beans). The persocon approaches Hideki face to face and says, "Chii" again. Blushing and stirring his natto quickly, he thanks his luck for finding such a cute persocon so he could finally be able to do all the things that people can do with persocon such as E-mail and Porn surfing. Without his knowing, the persocon takes the natto from Hideki and smears some on her face (which quickly arouses Hideki and he clutches at his crotch in embarassment).

Suddenly, Shinbo walks in from the door with Sumomo on his shoulder and finds the odd scene. Shinbo then congratulates Hideki for finding a woman to shack up with so soon. Turning red, he tells Shinbo she was a persocon and he found her last night. Shinbo then realizes why Hideki was acting so weird and secretive the night before and he walks up to the persocon to inspect it. Hideki asks Shinbo if he knows how to use her and Shinbo decides to test her for a bit.

Taking connectors out of her ear, Shinbo connects the persocon to Hideki's TV to see what OS she runs on. When the TV switches on, all it says is "No Data", leaving Shinbo confused and wondering how the persocon could walk and talk without an OS system. Shinbo then further tries to find out more about the persocon and lifts up her shirt to find a brand name around her breasts (leaving Hideki speechless and panicking). Shinbo then lifts up her legs to find the model number and Hideki puts Shinbo in a headlock, demanding why he was doing such a thing. As Shinbo and Hideki both catch their breath, Shinbo asks Hideki how he expects to use a female persocon if he was going to be so prude.

Shinbo then takes Sumomo and plugs her into the persocon to see if Sumomo could figure out how she works. Sumomo scans for a minute and then suddenly goes beserk and crashes. Shinbo panics and cries as he holds Sumomo, crying that Hideki's persocon broke Sumomo. Shinbo cries and realizes that it might be a custom persocon then scribbles out directions to the house of his friend who knows a lot about custom-made persocons.

Hideki and the persocon head out (with her wearing spare bagging clothing of his) and they run into Hibiya sweeping outside. Hibiya greets them both and notices the persocon's baggy clothes and offers Hideki some of her own old ones. Hideki gratefully thanks her and heads towards the location of the map Shinbo wrote out for him. Hideki and the persocon then arrive at the front gate of a huge mansion and he rings the intercom, telling the voice box he was sent by a friend to see "Minoru". The gates open and Hideki and Chii are welcomed into the mansion...by four scantily dressed maid persocons.

A voice comes from the stairway, telling Hideki not to get a nosebleed over his persocons and Hideki looks up to see a 12 year old walking towards them. Shocked, Hideki asks the boy if he was Shinbo's friend and the boy introduces himself as Kokubunji Minoru. As the maid persocons "greet" Hideki by groping him, Minoru walks up to Hideki's persocon and wonders where she came from.

Inside the living room, the four maid persocons are crashed and sprawled out all over the floors from being connected with Hideki's persocon. Minoru wonders why she's causing all his powerful models to crash so easily. Suddenly, another maid walks in from the doorway and asks Minoru if she could give it a try. Hideki greets her and asks the pretty lady if she was Minoru's sister and she shakes her head and introduces herself as Yuzuki, Minoru's persocon. Minoru hesitates to let Yuzuki scan the persocon but she smiles and tells him she has to scan her to find out. Yuzuki plugs herself into the persocon and sits down beside her, scanning. As she scans, Yuzuki suddenly disconnects and Minoru runs up and tells her to stop. Yuzuki falls upon Minoru and apologizes that a portion of her household chore data crashed. Minoru is just relieved that her personality data didn't crash. Hideki shakes his persocon to see if she's okay and Yuzuki answers that she wasn't damaged but she couldn't tell whether or not she had an OS system or not due to the fact she was heavily protected.

Hideki, Minoru, and the persocon sit down as Yuzuki serves them tea and Minoru tells Hideki that his persocon might be from the chobits series. Minoru explains the chobits series is a rumored urban legend of a series of persocons that have artificial intelligence. Hideki asks if Yuzuki is one but Minoru explains that Yuzuki's program takes the best step possible, but she isn't a chobit.

Hideki and his persocon begin to leave and Minoru tells Hideki he'll contact him as soon as he finds some more information. Hideki checks his pockets for a pen and paper to write down his phone number but Minoru tells him to just tell the number to Yuzuki and she'll memorize it. As Hideki gives his phone number, Minoru notices Hideki's persocon was memorizing it as well and makes the persocon repeat the phone number she just heard. Minoru tells Hideki his persocon must already have a learning program installed in it and to teach her until they figure out what OS system she runs on in order to get software for her. Hideki is surprised and amazed his persocon can say something else other than "chii" and thanks Minoru for his help. Just before he walks out the door, Minoru motions Hideki towards him and whispers in his ear that no matter how cute and how human a persocon may seem, don't fall in love with them, because in the end, they'll just break his heart. Confused at what Minoru told him, Hideki and his persocon begin walking back home and he laughs it off, telling himself he'll never fall in love with his persocon no matter how cute she is.

Back at the apartments, Hibiya gives Hideki a bag with her old clothing and Hideki thanks her repeatedly again. After she leaves, Hideki presents his persocon with a dress and tells her to wear it. The persocon tries it on and Hideki happily applauds how good it looks on her. Hideki then realizes he should give his persocon a name since both Shinbo and Minoru named theirs. He thinks for a quick moment and tells the persocon that from that point on, her name will be Chii. Chii happily tackles Hideki with another huge hug. When her skirt hikes up over her butt while she's on top of Hideki, he prompty tugs it down, telling himself outloud to buy Chii some underwear.
