Motosuwa Hideki introduces himself as an 18 year old student, working on his parents' farm and waiting for a reply from Tokyo University for admission. Hideki checks to the mail only to find out he failed to make it in and was now a ronin (re-applying student). Hideki throws a crazy fit and then decides to go to Tokyo and attend Yobikou (cram school) to reapply.

Hideki arrives in Tokyo and stares at a piece of paper with the address of the dorm he would be staying in while he attends yobikou. He then notices a persocon store and runs up to the window, wishing he had a persocon of his own. He then notices the price and begins to freak out...that attracts the attention of all the people around him. Embarassed, he runs away from the scene and resumes trying to find the dorm.

While walking on a suburb road, Hideki wishes again he had a persocon of his own and thinks out loud he wants to use it for E-mail, internet, and porn. His thoughts are interrupted when a pretty woman repeats what he had just said. He comes to his senses and notices the woman was sweeping up the front gates of an apartment building. He pulls out the paper and asks her if she knew where the dorms called "Gabu Jougasaki" was located. The woman smiles and tells him he already arrived. Hideki freaks out and the woman introduces herself as Hibiya Chitose, the Kanrinin (manager) of the dorms and tells Hideki she was expecting him.

Hibiya introduces Hideki to his room and he notices all his luggage and boxes were already inside. Hibiya explains that a fellow tenant, Shinbo, carried them all him for her. After Hibiya leaves, Hideki begins to unpack his things, grateful that he gets to live in a dorm with such a pretty woman for a kanrinin. Suddenly a knock comes at the door and Hideki answers it, but a small persocon jumps on his face and he's knocked back by a sudden burst of a party favor. The little persocon does a dance on Hideki's face, welcoming him to the dorm. Hideki then notices the persocon owner and the stranger introduces himself as Shinbo Hiromu and he tells Hideki he's also 18 and will be attending Yobikou. He also introduces the small persocon as Sumomo, a mobile persocon. Hideki and Shinbo immediately bond as two re-applying "failures".

At dinnertime, Hideki goes to a nearby convenience store to pick up his dinner. At the register, a persocon rings him up and politely bids him goodbye. Hideki is still mesmerized by how much persocons seem like real people and thinks about it as he walks back to his apartment. He then wishes badly he had one of his own and coincidentally passes a pile of trash and notices a persocon wrapped up in bandages lying in the garbage.

Hideki is shocked and wondered why somebody would throw a persocon away in the trash but then realizes that since it is in the trash, he could take it for himself. He lifts the persocon up, and struggles at how heavy it is. As he carries it away, he doesn't notice the disk that falls out of the persocons bandages onto the ground.

When he gets to his apartment, he then tries to figure out how to switch it on but fails to do so. After he pushed everything possible OUTSIDE the persocon's body, he then realizes there was one place he hasn't pushed yet...(between her legs). Nervous and trying to morally explain to himself he wasn't going to do anything dirty, just switch her on, he sits the persocon up and quickly pushes the button between her legs. The persocon then suddenly switches on and breaks free from her bandages, leaving Hideki speechless. The persocon (still naked), crawls up to Hideki sprawled on the floor and says, "Chii?" Confused, Hideki asks the persocon if it was her name, but then the persocon happily jumps on top of him, cuddling him.

Suddenly, Shinbo knocks on the door and calls out to Hideki if he wanted to go to the public bath together and Hideki realizes he has to find clothes for the persocon. In panic, he wraps a towel over her and hides her body with his own when Shinbo walks in. Shinbo wonders why Hideki looks so stiff and posing on the floor in such a weird way and tells him he'll be waiting in his room if he wants to go. Hideki readily agrees and locks the door after Shinbo leaves, sighing in relief. Then someone knocks on the door again and he opens it to find Hibiya with a bowl of greens she prepared for him. Hideki is estatic and thanks Hibiya repeatedly but forgets about the persocon standing behind him. Hibiya then notices the persocon in the towel behind him and compliments him on finding such a cute one. Hideki panics and tries to explain but Hibiya smiles and tells him to take care and leaves.

Hideki slumps to the floor, talking to himself that Hibiya probably thinks that he was some pervert that liked to see persocons naked. He then sits the persocon down and tells her that he'll be right back and goes next door to tell Shinbo he won't be able to go to the baths because he has to unpack. Going back into his room, he catches the persocon reading his porn. Embarassed, he snatches it away and the persocon looks up at him puzzled and says, "chii" again. Hideki begins to wonder out loud if "chii" was the only thing it was able to say and if that was the reason why the owner threw her out. The persocon then grabs hold of Hideki's shirt with a scared expression and Hideki pats her on the head, telling her that he won't throw her away. The persocon then gets happy and tackles Hideki in a bear hug. Sitting back with a cute persocon hugging at his waist, he thinks to himself that she was really soft.
